題辭
自二零零一年七月維基百科成立後，維基運動可說是改變了全世界。互聯網由一個只能取得資訊的空間，變成了人人都能參與創造資訊的空間。無可否認的是，維基百科的成功，也同是網絡協作精神的成功，啟發了更多成功的 Web 2.0 網站和應用，如Youtube，Blogging，Podcast，以及香港的獨立媒體網站等等。
另一方面，維基媒體也包含開放知識的精神。版權確能鼓勵創作，但如只顧保護版權而忽略資訊流通的重要性也是矯枉過正的。我相信對整個社會，特別是教育界來說，一個易如利用、內容豐富及準確的知識來源是極為重要的。維基百科作為一個極為成功的內容開放計劃，除了成為了內容開放運動的有力支持者外，也為世界各地人士帶來莫大裨益。
要繼續發展和推廣維基文化，維基人自發的努力是不可少的。本人欣悉香港維基媒體協會以推動網絡協作和開放知識為己任，並在此衷心表示支持。祝願香港維基媒體協會能廣聚人才，為推動知識開放共享和網絡協作而努力。

| We dedicated this Chronology of milestones to all who had assisted and helped with the establishment Wikimedia Hong Kong.
| 爾等同心協力將近一年，歷二十五次籌備會議，終成創立香港維基媒體協會成立之美事。回顧過去，實乃點滴在心。
然今當整理舊事之良辰，是故立大事記：一以存為協會之歷史材料，方面日後之查究；二亦收總結經驗之效，供後來者參考，以求協會之延存。
